The side by side two seat Mistral was originally supplied as a kit built
aircraft by Aviasud Engineering of Frejus. Following the demise of
Aviasud the type is now manufactured by Aeriane of Belgium. A braced
biplane with a fixed tricycle undercarriage, the Mistral is extremely
popular in Europe and is operated in various roles not normally
associated with microlights such as pilot training, cropspraying and
banner towing. The Mistral was also licence-built in Brazil by
Ultraleger. A twin engined version is the Mistral Twin of which at least
30 were built.
