The AM.3C was designed as an observation aircraft for the Italian Army, although it was not ordered by that organization. It did see service with the South African Air Force and the Rwanda miltary. Capable of carrying underwing rockets or bombs it was also used for casualty evacuation and cargo transport. A small number are now in civil markings in South Africa and the USA.
