The Jet Commander was designed as an alternative for Twin Commander
owners who wanted a faster aircraft with similar passenger capacity. The
design was a success, although the whole project had to be sold in 1967
because of American anti-trust laws. It was bought by Israel Aircraft
Industries who developed it as the Westwind. Aero Commander built a
further 11 improved Model 1121A’s and 11 Model 1121B’s which were
powered by 2x 2950 lb.s.t.(13.12kN) General Electrics. This model had a
higher maximum take-off weight of 18,500lb(8399kg).
