The elegant Aero Commander 200D was
initially named the Spark although this name was dropped soon after
production began. The type is derived from the Meyers 200C (10 built).
The Meyers Aircraft Company first flew the Model 200 (3 built) in 1953
powered by a 240hp(179kW) Continental. This was followed by the Model
200A (11 built) in 1958 powered by a 260hp(194kW) Continental. The
Meyers 200B (17 built) had minor cosmetic improvements and the Model
200C had a 285hp(212kW) Continental. The Meyers company was taken over
by Rockwell Commander in 1965 resulting in the Model 200D being produced
by the Aero Commander division. These aircraft are highly sought after
and a fair number are still airworthy.
