The Aeronautical Corporation of America was founded in 1928 and the
Aeronca C-3 was the first purpose built light aircraft designed
specifically to meet the needs of the growing pilot population in the
USA in the 1930’s. A British subsidiary built 19 examples before World
War 11 and the type could be powered by various engines including the
JAP J-99 which was the licence built version of the Aeronca E-113C, and
the 65hp(48kW) Continental. A small number remain airworthy.
