Aerospatiale AS355F Ecureuil 2


The AS355F was developed from the AS355E which had a maximum take-off weight of 4628lb(2101kg) and which was a twin engined version of the AS350 Ecureuil. The AS355F has a larger main rotor. The AS355F1 first flown in 1984 has a maximum take-off weight of 5291lb (2402kg). The AS355F2 first flown in 1985 has a maximum take-off weight of 5600lb(2542kg). Examples for the North American market are known as the Twin Star. The AS355N introduced in 1989 is powered by 2x 406shp(302kW) Turbomecas and has a maximum take- off weight of 5732lb(2600kg). Helibras of Brazil builds a version known as the HB355N Esquilo. The AS555 Fennec is the military variant. The AS355 is popularly known as the Twin Squirrel.
