One of the first successes in international aviation collaboration, the
Concorde was flown only by Air France and British Airways. The elegant
Concorde was a milestone in aviation history and remains a testament to
the great technical advances that were made in aircraft engineering in
the 1960’s and 70’s. The rising costs of fuel in the 1970’s put paid to
any large scale production of the Concorde and eventually the ten
remaining airworthy aircraft only flew scheduled services on the North
Atlantic routes. The Concorde was withdrawn from use in 2005.
