Aerospatiale (Nord 262) Fregate

The Fregate was developed from the Nord 262B(4 built) and the earlier Nord 262A(73 built) which in turn had been developed from the Max-Holste 260 Super Broussard which first flew in 1960. Aerospatiale was formed in 1970 with the merger of Nord Aviation and Sud Aviation. Of the 33 Fregates built, 24 were the Model D for use by the French Air Force. Frakes Aviation converted 9 Nord 262’s to Frakes 298 Mohawk standard from 1975. These aircraft were powered by 2x 1180shp(880kW) Pratt & Whitneys. A small number of Fregates were in service until quite recently.
