Aerospatiale SA316B Alouette 111


Developed from the SE313B Alouette 11 Artouste, the Alouette 111 was first flown as the SA316A in 1959. This version, and the SA316B, was built in India by HAL from 1965 as the Chetak(200+ built).The SA316B was the principal production variant and it has been built in Romania as the IAR-316B(230+ built). In addition 60 were built in Switzerland by FFA. A slightly more powerful version, the SA316C, was built in small numbers. The SA319B Astazou first flew in 1967 and was powered by a 600shp(448kW) Turbomeca Astazou X1V. The Alouette 111 was an extremely successful design and is in use by civil operators worldwide.
