Designed by Karel Dlouhy the Vivat is a powered version of the LET L-13
Blanik glider incorporating a wider cockpit and centre section to
accommodate two seats side by side. Different versions were built
including the L-13SW first flown in 1978 and powered by a 65hp(48kW)
Walter and with a maximum take-off weight of 1477lb(670kg). The L-13SL
first flown in 1990 is powered by a 67hp(49kW) Limbach E01 and has a
maximum take-off weight of 1587lb (720kg). A small number were built
with a tailwheel undercarriage as opposed to the mainwheel and
retractable outriggers on most Vivats and these are designated L-13SDM.
Although production ended in 1999 to allow Aerotechnik to concentrate on
the Eurostar series, Blanik America Inc. continues to offer parts and
support services for Vivat owners.
