Designed by Martin Hollmann, the Stallion is a sleek touring aircraft
available in kit form from Aircraft Designs Inc. of California. The
aircraft illustrated above has been converted into the prototype Super
Stallion, a six seat derivative powered by a 300hp(223kW) Continental
IO-550. Height has been increased to 9’6”(2.89m) and wingspan reduced to
35’0”(10.65m). Range is now 2500miles(4007km) and cruising speed is
225mph(361kmh). The empty weight of the Super Stallion is 2200lb(998kg)
and the maximum take-off weight is 3800lb(1725kg). An alternative
powerplant recommended by Aircraft Design is the 550shp(409kW) P&W
PT6A-20 which gives a cruising speed of 290mph(465kmh) and a range of
1350miles(2166km). Examples of this high performance touring aircraft
are being built in the United States and New Zealand.
