Designed by Richard Giles as an unlimited class aerobatic aircraft, the
Giles G-200 can be powered by engines in the range 180hp(134kW) -
230hp(171kW).Kits were originally available from AkroTech Aviation Inc.
of Scapoose, Oregon. In 2000 Richard Giles suspended operations and
decided to seek certification of the two seat G-202 and have it
manufactured in France by CAP Aviation. Eventually the G-202 evolved
into the CAP 222 and this aircraft is now manufactured by the CAP
division of Apex Aircraft which was formed in 2002 after a merger
between CAP Aviation and Robin Aviation, necessitated because of the
downturn in light aircraft sales in the aftermath of the events of
September 11 2001.
