Originally built by the American Eagle-Lincoln Aircraft Corporation of
Kansas City, the Eaglet must qualify as one of the oldest “ultralights”.
Rights to the Eaglet were sold to American Eaglecraft of Fort Worth,
Texas in 1936 and around three or four remain airworthy, some of them
powered by a 65hp(48kW) Continental. The original Model 230 Eaglet was
powered by a 30hp (22kW) Szekely SR-3-L and several were powered by a
40hp(30kW) Salmson.
