Ameriplanes Mitchell Wing A10 Silver Eagle

The Mitchell Wing A-10 was developed from the Mitchell Wing B-10 which was powered by a 20hp(15kW) Honda two-stroke engine. These microlights were originally developed and built by the Mitchell Aerospace Company of Porterville, California, and this company was also involved in the development of the Mitchell Wing U-2 Superwing which was a single seat microlight “flying wing” powered by a 20hp Honda and which first flew in 1979. The Mitchell Wing P-38 Lightning, first flown in 1980, was a single seat microlight powered by a 30hp(22kW) Cayuna 430, and the Mitchell Wing AG-38 War Eagle was a proposed military version of the P-38 Lightning which had provision for two M60 machine guns and four Strem 89 rockets. The TU-10 Double Eagle is a two seat version of the A-10 Silver Eagle powered by a 39hp(29kW) Rotax 447. The Mitchell Wing was out of production from 1994 until 1998 when Larry Smith bought Ameriplanes and moved the company from Kansas to Truro, Iowa.
