Developed from the AN-10A, the AN-12 was
designed as a military cargo aircraft and troop transport. The rear
fuselage was redesigned with a loading ramp. It was allocated the NATO
code name ‘Cub’. A Chinese version was built by the Shaanxi Aircraft
Company as the Y-8. A number are now in use as freighters in Africa and
the Middle East.
