Designed as a replacement for the AN-24, the AN-140 is a joint venture
between the Ukraine, Russia and Iran. It entered service with Air Ikar
at the end of 2000 and entered series production with the Kharkov State
Aircraft Manufacturing Company in 2001. At least 90 aircraft are on
order.
