Antonov AN-225 Mriya

The AN-225 is the world’s largest aircraft and is basically an enlarged six-engined version of the AN-124 Ruslan. It was built specifically to carry the Buran space shuttle and large rocket parts from Moscow to the Baykonur space launch site. It has increasingly been used for the transport of commercial outsize loads worldwide as well as within Russia. It has a maximum payload of 551,000lb (250,000kg) which can be carried internally or externally.  It is unlikely that more than a handful of these giant freighters will ever be built.
