Developed from the AN-14, the AN-28 was intended as a short range
general purpose aircraft and was allocated the NATO code name ‘Cash’.
PZL-Mielec of Poland began production in 1984 and further developed the
aircraft’s potential by producing a version known as the M-28 Skytruck
for sale in the West. This aircraft is powered by 2x 1100shp(820kW)
Pratt & Whitneys and has a maximum take-off weight of
15,432lb(7000kg). About 130 AN-28’s are currently active in civil
markings.
