The AN-72 and AN-74 are similar aircraft, the AN-74 featuring improved
de-icing systems for operations in polar regions. The AN-74 first flew
in 1984 and both types are in military and commercial service. The
AN72/74 have STOL capability and can be operated on skis. About 50 are
operated by civil companies.
