The Kudu was built by the Atlas Aircraft Corporation as a general
purpose light transport with STOL capability for the South African Air
Force. It was developed from the Aermacchi AM.3C of which 40 were built
under licence for the SAAF. A number of ex military Kudus are now flying
in civil markings in South Africa and have been found to be excellent
aircraft for bush operations.
