A stretched version of the ATR 42, the ATR 72 has proven popular with
smaller airlines. Apart from the Series 200 it is also available as the
ATR 72-210 powered by 2x 2480shp(1850kW) Pratt & Whitneys giving more
power for operations at high altitude airfields. The ATR 72-500 is
powered by 2X 2750shp (2046kW) Pratt & Whitney PW127F engines and
features reduced diameter six bladed propellers to reduce noise and
vibration. It has a maximum take-off weight of 49,604lb (22,500kg).
