The J/5 was a J/1 with a more powerful engine. It was followed by the
J/5B Autocar (80 built) which was a four seat J/5 with a maximum
take-off weight of 2400lb(1089kg). One J/5E Autocar with shortened wings
and powered by a 155hp (1156kW) de Havilland was built. The J/5G Autocar
(94 built) was an agricultural version of the J/5B. One J/5H Autocar,
converted from the J/5B had a 145hp(108kW) Blackburn. The J/5P Autocar
(25 built) was powered by a 145hp(108kW) de Havilland. One J/5T was
built powered by a 108hp(80kW) Lycoming and one J/5V Autocar powered by
a 160hp(119kW) Lycoming. A large number of the Autocar and Adventurer
series are still active. An Auster J/5 Adventurer is illustrated below.
