The Model A-5 was the first purpose built
agricultural aircraft built by Callair. It was a development of the
Model A-4 (65 built) which first flew in 1954 and had seating for three.
The Model A-5T(9 built) was similar to the A-5 with some changes to the
fuselage. The Model A-6 (34 built) was a higher
powered version of the A-5 with a 180hp(134kW) Lycoming and a maximum
take-off weight of 2350lb(1066kg). At least 12 Model A-7T’s were built
powered by a 240hp(179kW) Continental. In 1962 the Callair line was
bought by the Intermountain Manufacturing Company (IMCO) who went on to
develop the IMCO Callair A-9 which is described separately. Examples of
the A-5, A-6 and A-7T are still active.
