The CT-133 Silver Star is a licence-built version of the
Lockheed T-33A from which it differed mainly in its powerplant,
substituting the Allison J33 with the RR Nene. Canadair began production of the
CT-133 for the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952 and the type was the
first jet trainer for that service. When production ended in 1959 a
toatal of 656 had been built, some of which were eventually supplied to
the Air Forces of Bolivia, France, Greece, Portugal and Turkey. The last
CT-133 was retired from CAF service in 2002 and several have been sold
on the civil market.
