The Capella Aircraft Corp. of Austin, Texas builds
kits for a number of similar designs including the Capella Fastback
powered by an 80hp(59kW) Rotax 912, and the Capella Single Seat powered
by a 50hp(37kW) Rotax 503. Since 2001 the company has concentrated on
producing kits fot the Capella XLS which is powered by an 80hp(59kW)
Rotax 912, and the Capella XLS Super 100 powered by a 100hp (74kW) Rotax
912S. The single seat version is known as the Capella SS which is
normally powered by a 50hp(37kW) Rotax 503. It has an empty weight of
375lb(170kg) and a maximum take-off weight of 625lb(283kg). Length is
17’4"(5.27m) and wingspan is 27’6"(8.37m). Range is 158miles(253km) and
cruising speed is 102mph(163kmh). All versions can be fitted with either
tricycle or tailwheel undercarriages.
