Designed by Tom Cassutt, the Cassutt Special 11 was
derived from the slightly larger Special 1 which first flew in 1954 and
which won the 1958 US National Air Racing Championships.The Model 111M
is normally powered by a 180hp Lycoming. A distinctive mid wing design
the Cassutt remains a popular sporting aircraft with examples flying
worldwide. An example of the Cassutt Special 111M powered by a 100hp(75kW)
Continental O-200 is shown below.
