Cessna AW

The Cessna Aircraft Company was founded in 1927 by Clyde V. Cessna after he left the Travel Air Manufacturing Company which he had founded along with Walter Beech and Lloyd Stearman in 1925. Cessna had built his first aircraft in 1911 and his experience and tenacity were the foundations on which the Cessna company built its success in the field of civil aircraft design and construction. Cessna have built more general aviation aircraft than any other manufacturer in the world. The Model AW was developed from the Model AA (14 built) which first flew in 1927 powered by a 120hp(89kW) Anzani. A three seat version was built as the Model BW (13 built) and powered by a 220hp(164kW) Wright. About six Model AW’s have survived of which three are believed to be in airworthy condition.
