A stretched version of the DHC-Dash 8 Series 100, the
Series 300 also featured an increase in wingspan as well as interior
changes. The Series 300A was introduced in 1990 with further interior
improvements and a higher maximum take-off weight. The Series 300B
followed in 1992 and was powered by 2x 2500shp(1865kW) Pratt & Whitneys
and with a maximum take-off weight of 43,000lb(19,505kg). Since 1998 all
new Series 300’s have been designated de Havilland Canada Dash 8
Q300, having been fitted with a noise and vibration
suppression system. The Dash 8’s have been built by Bombardier since
1992 when they bought the company from Boeing, but are generally known
as de Havilland Canada products.
