de Havilland D.H.110 Sea Vixen FAW 2

Originally designed as a competitor to the Gloster Javelin the Sea Vixen was first flown in prototype form in 1951. The first production aircraft for the Royal Navy was the FAW Mk.1 (114 built) which became operational in 1959. THe FAW Mk.2 had the tail booms extended forward of the wings to increase fuel capacity and 69 of the FAW 2’s built were conversions of existing FAW Mk.1’s. One FAW Mk.2 is maintained in airworthy condition.
