de Havilland D.H.83C Fox Moth


The Fox Moth was a stretched version of the Tiger Moth incorporating the latter’s wings and tail. It was designed as a light transport having particular success in the Canadian bush. The initial version, the D.H.83, was built in England and was powered by a 130hp(97kW) de Havilland. 100 of these models were built including two built in Australia by de Havilland Australia. The Canadian built D.H.83C was higher powered and had a larger cockpit canopy. One is believed to be airworthy in New Zealand. A D.H.83 is illustrated below.
