The all wood Comet was designed for competition in
the Victorian Centenary Air Race of 1934 from England to Melbourne,
Australia. All three aircraft entered the race equipped with large fuel
tanks in the forward fuselage. The race was won by G-ACSS which is still
current. A flying replica of this aircraft was built in the United
States in 1993.
