Designed by Dan Denney, the Kitfox was produced as a
kit by the Denney Aerocraft Company of Idaho. A number of versions have
been produced and the kits are now available from Skystar Aircraft. The
Kitfox 1 of 1984 (258*built) was powered by a Rotax 532 and had a
maximum take-off weight of 850lb(385kg). The Kitfox 11 was followed by
the Kitfox 111 (466* built) in 1990 which was powered by an 80hp(59kW)
Rotax 912 and which had a maximum take-off weight of 1050lb(476kg). The
Kitfox 1V (322* built) first flew in 1991 and was the last of the kits
offered by Denney Aerocraft before the rights to the Kitfox were
acquired by the Skystar Aircraft Corporation in 1992. The Kitfox 5 was
Skystar’s first development of the Denney design. A Kitfox 1V is shown
below.
