Edgar Percival Aircraft Ltd. was founded in 1954 by
the Australian Edgar Percival. The EP.9 was designed as a light utility
aircraft which could be used as a freighter and agricultural aircraft.
The Lancashire Aircraft Co. Ltd. acquired the rights to the design in
1958 and built a further 5 aircraft as the Lancashire Prospector as well
as a single Prospector 2 which was powered by a 375hp (280kW) Armstrong
Siddeley radial. Two EP.9’s are known to remain in airworthy condition,
including an example in South Africa.
