Fairchild Swearingen SA226-T Merlin 111


The Merlin 111 featured a new, longer fuselage , taller undercarriage and swept fin. The Merlin 111A(42 built) had two extra starboard windows and an extra port window. The SA226-T(B) Merlin 111B(72 built) first flew in 1978 powered by 2x 900shp(671kW) Garretts and had modified wing roots and tailplane and four bladed propellers. The SA227-TT Merlin 111C(25 built) first flew in 1981 and had a maximum take-off weight of 13,230lb (6006kg). A development of the 111C was the SA227-TT Merlin 300(10+ built) which featured winglets. Around 120 Merlin 111’s of differing variants remain airworthy.
