The Fokker E-III, also known as the
Eindecker (Monoplane), was an important German
fighter in the early stages of World War 1 and enjoyed a certain amount
of superiority until early 1916 when it was overtaken by more efficient
designs. A number of replica aircraft were built for the film "The Blue
Max" which was filmed in 1966 and starred James Mason. The replica
shown below was built in the USA.
