The Fellowship Mk.1000 was the initial production
version of the F.28 series which was designed to provide airlines with a
faster, larger capacity alternative to the successful F.27 Friendship.
The Mk.2000(10 built) first flew in 1971 and had the fuselage lengthened
to 97’2"(29.61m) providing 80 seats. The Mk.3000 had the fuselage length
of the Mk.1000 but the wingspan was increased to 82’3"(25.06m). It was
powered by 2x 9900lb.s.t.(44.0kN) Rolls-Royces, had a seating capacity
of 67 and a maximum take-off weight of 73,000lb (33,110kg). The
Mk.4000(70 built) first flew in 1976 and had the fuselage of the Mk.2000
and a seating capacity of 85. The Mk.6000(2 built) was similar to the
Mk.4000.Production of the Fellowship series ended in 1987 when a total
of 241 of all variants had been built. It is believed that about 165
remain airworthy.
