Anthony Fokker set up business in his native
Netherlands after World War 1 and turned his attention to designing
civil aircraft and particularly airliners. The F.VIIa can trace its
lineage back to the Fokker F.II which first flew in 1919 and was a
development of the Fokker D.VIII fighter of World War 1. Although mainly
operated in Europe, the F.VIIa also saw service in North America and the
example illustrated has recently been restored.
