A three-engined version of the Fokker F.VIIa, the
F.VIIb/3m was produced for service with US airlines eventually becoming
one of the most widely used airliners in the world until the 1930’s. It
was licence built in several countries including Belgium, UK and the
United States. The F.VIIa/3m had a shorter span wing. The type was used
on a number of record breaking flights including the first flight across
the Pacific from San Francisco to Australia by Charles Kingsford-Smith
and from Australia to England in 13 and a half days also by
Kingsford-Smith.
