Built by Found Brothers Aviation of Toronto, the
FBA-2C was a development of the FBA-2A which had first flown in 1960.
The 2C had a longer cabin and large dorsal fin and was the production
variant. It achieved some success with a few small operators in Ontario,
but the availability of the de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver with its larger
payload and more rugged construction contrived to limit its production.
Bush pilots criticized the lack of wing struts for manhandling the
aircraft on water. The design has recently enjoyed a renaissance with
the construction of an upgraded version, the FBA-2E Bush Hawk at Parry
Sound, Ontario. A small number of FBA-2C’s remain airworthy.
