A departure from the Fournier motor glider designs,
the RF-6B was a successful light aircraft which was the progenitor of a
number of improved versions including the four seat RF-6C(4 built) which
first flew in 1976 powered by a 150hp(112kW) Lycoming. The RF-6C was
produced by Sportavia in Germany as the Sportavia RS-180 Sportsman(19
built). Slingsby Aviation of Kirkbymoorside in England began licence
production of the RF-6B in 1988 when the prototype Slingsby T.67A made
its first flight. 10 T.67A’s were built before Slingsby began production
of a glass-reinforced plastic version designated T.67M. Many examples of
the RF-6B and its derivatives remain active.
