Designed by M. Guimbal, an engineer with Eurocopter,
as a potential competitor to the Robinson R22 the Cabri G2 had a
protracted development period. Helicopteres Guimbal S.A. Was founded in
2000 and in 2005 Eurocopter and Helicopteres Guimbal formed a joint
company, Vertivision, to develop an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based
on the Cabri. The French Army and Navy have a requirement for a VTOL UAV.
The design still has the potential for success as a light civil
helicopter.
