Intreprinderea de Constructii Aeronautice (ICA) was
created in 1968 and is a continuation of the company of IAR-Brasov which
was founded in 1926. The company has built a large number of types, many
of which are no longer airworthy, but which include the IAR-821 (20
built) single seat agricultural aircraft which first flew in 1967
powered by a 300hp(223kW) Ivchenko. The IAR-822 (20 built) was a two
seat version of the IAR-821 powered by a 290hp(216kW) Lycoming and first
flown in 1968. The IAR-823 was designed as a trainer and tourer and
production aircraft were supplied to both the Romanian Air Force and
Romanian Flying Clubs. A small number remain active including several
