McDonnell Douglas MD.520N

The MD.520N was the first production helicopter to dispense with a tail rotor. McDonnell Douglas developed the NOTAR (No Tail Rotor ) system which reduces noise and vibration and increases safety due to the lack of a tail rotor. The type has proven popular with law enforcement authorities and corporate sales have also been good. McDonnell Douglas merged with Boeing in 1997 and the type is now generally known as the Boeing MD.520N.
