The prototype Bf 108 Taifun was first flown with a
250hp (186kW) Hirth and the first production model, the Bf 108A was
powered by the 240hp Argus. The main production model was the Bf 108B
and it was this variant which saw service with the Luftwaffe in the
communications role. Production was transferred to France in 1942 where
it was built by SNCAN near Paris. After the war, it was built in France
as the Nord 1002 Pingouin. A handful of original Bf 108B’s remain
active.
