Navion Rangemaster G

The Navion Aircraft Company was formed by the Tulsa Manufacturing Company in 1961 to manufacture the Rangemaster G which was a radically redesigned version of the Ryan Navion B. In 1965 the rights to the Rangemaster were sold to the American Navion Society who formed the Navion Aircraft Company in Texas to build a higher powered version. The Rangemaster H (60 built) first flew in 1966 powered by a 285hp(212kW) Continental and production continued until 1972 when the company went bankrupt. One Rangemaster H was built in 1974 by the Navion Rangemaster Aircraft Company and a further 8 were built in 1975 by Consolidated Holding Inc. A handful of Rangemaster G and H’s remain airworthy. A Rangemaster G is illustrated below.
