The Lanceiro was a civil version of the Neiva L-42
Regente (40 built) which was built for the Brazilian Army as an AOP
aircraft. The L-42 was itself a modified version of the Neiva N-591
Regente (80 built) which was first flown in 1961 and which saw service
with the Brazilian Air Force. Only two Lanceiros were built and one
remains airworthy in Brazil.
