The Pratt & Whitney powered Turbo-Porter has been the most successful version of the Porter series by far, its North American powerplant making it more attractive to US and other western operators. The PC-6/B1-H1 was followed by the PC-6/B2-H2 which first flew in 1970 powered by a 680shp(507kW) Pratt & Whitney and with a maximum take-off weight of 6100lb(2769kg). In 1965 Pilatus entered into an agreement with Fairchild Industries of the United States to built the Turbo-Porter under licence. The resulant PC-6/C1-H-2 (88 built) first flew in 1965 powered by a 575shp(429kW) Garrett. The latest version is the PC-6/B2-H4 (30+ built) which first flew in 1984 with the 550shp P&W. It features a strengthened airframe, larger dorsal fin fillet and a maximum take-off weight of 6173lb(2800kg). Shown below is an example of the PC-6/B2-H4.
