Piper J-4A Cub Coupe


The Cub Coupe was an improved version of the J-3 Cub and first flew in 1938 as the J-4 powered by a 50hp (37kW) Continental. The J-4A was followed by the J-4E powered by a 75hp(56kW) Continental. The J-4B first flew in 1939 powered by a 60hp(45kW) Franklin and later it was powered by a 65hp(48kW) Franklin. The J-4F was powered by a 55hp(41kW) or 65hp(48kW) Lycoming. A small number of J-4E’s saw service with the USAAF under the designation L-4E. About 300 remain active.
