The PA-11 Cub Special was an upgraded version of the
J-3C-65 for the immediate post-war civil market. It had a strengthened
airframe and fully enclosed engine cowling. The US Army bought 105
examples for Turkey through the Military Aid Program. They were
designated L-18B and like a number of the civil PA-11’s were powered by
a 95hp(71Kw) Continental. Around 500 are still airworthy.
