The Saab 340B introduced a number of significant
changes over the Saab 340A including the installation of more powerful
engines, a higher maximum take-off weight and a larger span tailplane to
permit a wider centre of gravity range. Crossair was the first customer,
receiving its first 340B in 1989. Production ended in 1998.
